I want to bag my truck but in order to 4 link it like I want to I'd have to move my gas tank. I've been told it won't pass smog if I move my tank.

I'm in Vallejo , have my project 88 Toy, have a custom tank behind the axle. You can relocate a tank, fuel cells ( as for racing) are not street legal. If you have a tank made, you have to keep the re stricter. What I did was use all the stock flanges, & filler neck.

did you have to keep the filler in the factory spot or did you move it to the inside of the bed?

Used the filler neck, just the end that the cap fits to, I shaved the gas door. You just have to have the restricker thats inside the filler tube near the top of the tube! You have to keep the charcoal canister also, & have the vent line from the tank going into it , from there there is a hose back to the engine, also the return fuel hose must be in place, if your truck is EFI,(NOT CARBED).

When I was searching for a shop to make my tank, I found a wide range in prices. The best was a shop in Santa Rosa, they made a stainless tank using my flanges for $400, 16ga. stainless !Fab Works ask for Foster 707 5667045
I made a wooden mock up to test the fit, & took it to them.

ok...why would you put your tank behind your axle...isnt that the part of the truck that is for dragging and shooting sparks...now idk about you but i dont really want 15 gallons of gas anywhere near that ive heard of trucks catch fire because of that...if ur no gonna drag, go for it but if u plan on dragging you might want to just put it in the bed

Gas takes are sealed #1. also at the moment my gas filler is in the bed (shaved off the bedside) and I want to do a camper shell. Obviously I cant fill my tank if the filler is at the front of the bed floor, so I'd have to move the tank to the back in order to to be able to put the filler in the back.
